Karen’s Story

A recent check in at the pediatrician’s office highlights our dependence on digital communication and subsequent frustration with barriers with it.  Not understanding the need to check my child in for the appointment a day or two prior, I failed to do so.  On the day of the appointment, I found myself physically at the pediatrician’s office but unable to check my child in because my cell phone required wifi access and the receptionist did not know the password.  Irritation grew as I was unable to reach my husband for help with digital check in.  Once the digital drama is handled, my daughter is seen by the pediatrician, and we are leaving the office, all tension that welled up in my body has been released.  Next time I will be sure to check in ahead of time and hopefully the office wifi password will be displayed for those who may need it.
